Just the other day, I found myself wandering the coast of Portlaoise, and guess what popped up on my radar? Mizzoni’s Pizza! Tucked snugly at 6 James Fintan Lalor Ave, this place has been slinging slices since 1975, or so the tale goes. They’re kinda the grandpas of pizza in Ireland, starting out as Mammas Pizzas.
Now, what caught my eye was their menu—seriously, pizza, pasta, burgers—you name it. I mean, who doesn’t love a good bite after a long day? And they stay open late! I strolled in around 2am, desperate for a late-night feast, and they had me covered. My double flamed quarter pounder was ready in a flash, and at just €9, it felt like I was getting away with something. Gotta admit though, the place could’ve warmed up a bit.
From what I’ve read, not everyone has the same love for their pizza. Some folks rave about the breakfast or their friendly staff. Others? Not so much—burnt pizza seems to be a recurring theme. But hey, that’s just how it goes sometimes, right?
They’re available for delivery, takeout—pretty much whatever your heart desires—and there’s even free street parking, which is a godsend. If you’re ever in the area, Mizzoni’s could be worth a visit, especially for a chilly night in Portlaoise!
